Altar Frontals

Altar frontals should be designed with the unity and integrity of the whole sanctuary in mind.

In St. Albert’s church, Pollokshields, all the sanctuary furnishings and vestments were matched with the dark blue of the carpet, and the theme of the Rainbow, symbolising God’s pact with Noah.

In St. Leo the Great, the theme is the “Tree of Life” and this can be seen in stained glass and murals, as well as vestments and altar frontal.

The frontal I designed for St. Brendan’s church in Saltcoats shows the barque of Brendan ploughing through the dark seas bringing the Light of Christ to a people in darkness.
